Chapter 1
Zodiac Signs
Twelve ways of approaching
The zodiac gives astrology a vocabulary of contrasting approaches: starting and sustaining, analysing and imagining, protecting and exploring. These pages introduce each sign through its element, modality, and planetary ruler, then apply it to ordinary situations. We use the Western tropical zodiac and identify modern rulership additions where relevant. Treat the descriptions as possibilities to test in context, not personality categories to impose on yourself or others. Every chart includes all twelve signs somewhere in its structure.
A sign offers a way to ask about experience, not a boundary around the person having it.
